Waldorf School of Bend Spreading Valentine’s Love
Feb 15 2023
Each year the Waldorf School of Bendembarks on a literal heart felt tradition on Valentine’s day. The school community lovingly handcrafts hearts, made of felt, that are then stitched, stuffed and embroidered with positive messages of love. This year they created and gathered nearly 2,000 hearts to distribute and display in downtown Bend, Oregon.
Known as the “Heart Bomb” campaign, this community care event takes many volunteers numerous hours to decorate the sidewalks and doorways of downtown Bend’s commercial district. They spring from winter tree branches, shop doorways, and newspaper stands, hundreds of bright red hearts dangling in the breeze as passersby stop to admire the unique scene.
