Shining Mountain Waldorf School alum, Sarah Gillis, has been the primary trainer for the crew of the Inspiration4 flight for SpaceX, which launched on Wednesday, September 15 at 8:02 p.m.
The Inspiration4 mission was the world’s first all-civilian human spaceflight to orbit and launched from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Sarah was the “CapCom,” or voice of mission control for the crew during the launch.
Sarah’s role in the mission was covered by The New York Times article — Sarah Gillis will be a key voice in the astronauts’ ears as they head to orbit — where they report, “Ms. Gillis has been working for months with Mr. Isaacman and the other three astronauts to ensure they’re fully prepared for their trip, down to such details as how to operate a fire extinguisher on the flight.”
Watch Sarah and the crew during a 4 part Netflix series that has been filmed about the SpaceX Inspiration4 flight on YouTube.
