Portland Waldorf School is welcoming applications for a Summer Camp Teacher for 2025. About

Portland Waldorf School was founded in 1982 and is fully accredited through AWSNA.  We serve over 300 students from early childhood through grade twelve on a beautiful seven-acre campus.  We offer a full Waldorf curriculum, including eurythmy, handwork, instrumental and choral music, blacksmithing and woodworking, drama, Spanish, Mandarin, games/movement, middle and high school athletics and a high school foreign exchange program.

Essential Job Duties

Responsibilities:

  • Lead students in camp activities, such as painting, coloring, circle, story, baking, music, recess, water play, fields trips, games, crafts, rest time, etc.; Make and serve snacks; supervise lunch; Supervise outdoor free play and rest time; Ensure safety of students at all times.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Licensed with Oregon Central Background Registry; Experience in teaching a group of 10-20 children; Interest in learning about and commitment to teaching out of the foundations of Waldorf Education; Ability to engage with children, class management, conflict resolution, and communication; Reliable, punctual, well-organized, and efficient.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Waldorf Teacher Training (completed or in progress); Understanding of or experience in Waldorf education; At least one year experience working with children in a group setting.

Employment Details

This is a non-exempt, hourly position. Compensation is $20.00 per hour. Work hours are Monday through Friday 8am-4pm. Summer camp weeks run from July 7 through August 8, 2025. Benefits offered include paid sick time per the Oregon Sick Leave law.
