Opening Statement

High Mowing School is now accepting applications for an enthusiastic Residential Life faculty member. A key member of our small boarding school staff, they actively contribute to a supportive environment for our boarding students through the creation of a warm and vibrant dormitory life where they foster a strong sense of family and community.

They are available to students as per their schedule (including evenings and weekends) and provide transportation to students for activities or individual appointments. They articulate, model, and maintain high standards, and ensure they are applied fairly and consistently.

This position follows the academic calendar. 

Leadership opportunities in residential life are potentially available.

High Mowing School is home to over 340 preschool through grade 12 day and boarding students. We are committed to fostering a caring, respectful, and diverse community where academic success, personal growth, and social responsibility are highly valued and fostered.  

HMS is centrally set on a hilltop among rolling farmland in scenic southern New Hampshire on 300+ acres. The Town of Wilton is only 1-3 hours away from a variety of experiences in any direction — the big city in Boston, MA; camping and incredible foliage in central NH; the charming New England seacoast in Portland, ME, or Cape Cod, MA; or great skiing and shopping in Burlington, VT. Travel a bit further to Montreal in Quebec, Canada, for a weekend with an international feel.

Qualifications

Our preferred candidate is experienced in holding boarding students in a residential life setting. They have a strong desire to provide a home-like environment to teenagers and are trained and experienced in meeting the challenges of the teenage years. They seek to actively contribute to a committed school community of faculty, staff, parents, and students in a rural setting permeated by natural beauty. 

Experienced working with adolescents, they wish to contribute to a committed community of faculty, staff, and students. They seek a challenging yet supportive, home-like school environment where they can grow professionally and personally. 

  • Undergraduate degree preferred.
  • Background or familiarity with Waldorf education preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
