Opening Statement
Tucson Waldorf School (TWS) seeks a qualified and enthusiastic Middle School Math Teacher to join our faculty for the 2025–2026 school year. This part-time position includes teaching math skills classes for grades 6–8 and collaborating with colleagues to support a strong, developmentally appropriate math curriculum rooted in Waldorf pedagogy.

The Tucson Waldorf School, celebrating its 31st anniversary, is a thriving educational institution situated in the scenic foothills of the Catalina Mountains. With over 200 students from Nursery through 8th grade, we offer six early childhood classes, including parent-child, nursery, and kindergarten. Accredited by the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN), our school prides itself on fostering a rich and diverse learning community.
Essential Job Duties
Position Responsibilities:
- Teach four math skills classes per week for each of grades 6 through 8
- Use Waldorf pedagogical principles to deliver engaging and practical lessons
- Assess students’ mathematical understanding and support their growth
- Work closely with class teachers in grades 6–8 to align math skills classes with main lesson blocks
- Utilize a combination of Saxon, Key To Series, and Jaime York resources
- Participate in recess duties, faculty meetings, parent conferences (as needed), mid-year and end-of-year student reports
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching middle school math, preferably in a Waldorf or similar educational setting
- Understanding of or strong interest in Waldorf education
- Training from Jaime York Academy preferred; candidates without this training will be expected to complete appropriate workshops and courses
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Flexible, dependable, and committed to supporting the whole child
Employment Details
Schedule and Compensation:
This is a part-time salaried position. Compensation is commensurate with experience and education.
