Opening Statement
The Denver Waldorf School (DWS) seeks a qualified candidate to join our faculty as a Math Teacher for grades 5-8 beginning with our 2025-2026 school year.
The ideal candidate can teach math based upon Waldorf pedagogical principles, assess students’ mathematical abilities, and provide appropriate tutoring support in conjunction with the current curriculum being presented in the classroom. This person will directly teach grades 5-8 math track classes and work closely with the 5-8 class teachers to harmonize math taught in the Main Lesson as well as in the math track classes. This person may also support class teachers in 1-4 to hone best practices in math teaching, developing a firm foundation in math for students when they enter grade 5 as well as work with the High School math teachers to ensure continuity throughout the program.
Knowledge of Waldorf educational philosophy is preferred.

Essential Job Duties
Essential Functions
The essential responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Teach Class Lessons and other classes in this grade as determined by the College Leadership Council.
- Develop associated lesson plans, assignments, quizzes, and other necessary documentation for all classes.
- Provide tutoring to students in conjunction with the Student Support team.
- Develop lesson plans that can be taught remotely.
- Develop lesson plans for substitutes.
- Provide written documentation, when requested, for ACIS and AWSNA curriculum documentation and standards.
- Provide assessments for every class taught for parent teacher conferences and an End of Year Report for each student.
- Provide general supervision of students, both during class and outside of class time.
- Communicate in a timely and professional manner with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Report regularly to relevant section meetings and Care Group and work in conjunction with the sections to support student needs.
- Attend all required meetings, professional development, and trainings.
- Assist with weekend and evening programs when needed.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences in the fall and spring.
- Maintain workspace, classrooms, and all common areas to provide a healthy, clean, and inspiring learning environment for students.
- Serve on at least one committee after the first year of teaching is completed.
Qualifications
Education and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics or related field required. Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
- Experience teaching Math.
- Enthusiasm for and commitment to teaching a Waldorf curriculum.
- Exceptional communications skills, ability to interact with parents.
- Desire to work in a collaborative environment.
- Experience working with children between ages seven and fourteen preferred.
- Proficiency in designing effective lessons, teaching diverse learning styles, and managing Middle School-age students.

Working Hours
The work schedule requires the employee to be at the school each day for the time necessary to accomplish instruction and responsibilities assigned thoroughly. At a minimum, full-time faculty members are expected to be available to the school Monday through Friday for the entire day, beginning at 8:00 am, including dismissal monitoring, after-school student support, and after-school meetings.
