Opening Statement
Rudolf Steiner School seeks a Lower School Handwork Teacher. Strong candidates will have teaching experience, ideally in a Waldorf school and the ability to lead a variety of handwork skills, have an understanding of Waldorf pedagogy, and an appreciation for natural materials.

Rudolf Steiner School is an independent Nursery to 12 school, and the first Waldorf School in North America is on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Essential Job Duties
- Teaching Knitting, Crocheting, Embroidery, Hand-sewing, Machine sewing and the ability to correct mistakes
- The ability to lead a class and make pedagogical decisions
- Full participation in school life including faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, evening events for current and prospective parents, special school events, and more
- Additional duty hours which include recess coverage and substitution as needed
Qualifications
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree
- Training in Waldorf Handwork Curriculum
- Interest in and appreciation for Waldorf Education
- Commitment to professional growth including further education in Waldorf teaching
- Versatility, enthusiasm, punctuality, creativity
