Educational Support Coordinator (Preschool – Grade 5) 

Waldorf School of the Peninsula is seeking an experienced Educational Support Coordinator to join our Faculty team beginning August 1, 2025. This is a full time, onsite position based in our Los Altos, CA campus.

Job Overview: 

The Educational Support Coordinator is responsible for creating and managing Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs), coordinating assessments, and providing direct support to students with diverse learning needs. In this role, the coordinator will work with teachers, parents, and specialists to ensure effective adjustments, track student progress, and facilitate communication between all involved individuals. The Coordinator will also help with developing staff training, and ensure compliance with educational laws and policies. Works in collaboration with the Educational Support Team and the Pedagogical Administrator Team to support students across campuses.

Essential Job Duties

Responsibilities and Duties: 

  1. Develop and Implement Support Plans: 
  • Create and manage Individual Learning Plans, otherwise known as ILPs, 504 Plans, and other support plans tailored to meet the needs of students with diverse learning needs. 
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and specialists to implement accommodations effectively. 
  1. Coordinate Assessments and Evaluations: 
  • Schedule and facilitate rising first, second and fifth grade assessments. 
  • Schedule and facilitate educational assessments and evaluations with school psychologists, learning specialists, and other relevant professionals. 
  • Review and interpret assessment results to identify appropriate support strategies and share with teachers. 
  • Do an “In-House” evaluation before sending students to an educational assessment. 
  1. Monitor Student Progress: 
  • Track student progress and adjust support plans as needed. 
  • Meet regularly with students, parents, and teachers to review progress and make necessary changes (at least once a school year). 
  1. Provide Direct Support to Students: 
  • Offer one-on-one or small group support for students needing academic assistance or specialized interventions. 
  • Implement targeted strategies to improve sensory integration and self-regulation. 
  1. Facilitate Communication and Collaboration: 
  • Serve as a liaison between students, parents, teachers, Pedagogical Administrator, and external professionals to ensure cohesive support. 
  • Organize and lead meetings to discuss student needs and progress, including parent-teacher conferences. 
  1. Training and Professional Development: 
  • Provide training and resources for teachers and staff on best practices for supporting students with learning differences. 
  • Stay updated on educational support strategies, legal requirements, and accommodations through continuous professional development. 
  1. Documentation and Compliance: 
  • Maintain accurate records of student support plans, assessments, and communications. 
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements, such as IDEA, Section 504, and other applicable educational laws. 
  1. Resource Management: 
  • Identify and provide access to resources, materials, and assistive technology that support students’ learning needs. 
  • Manage budgets and resources allocated for educational support services 
  1. Crisis Intervention: 
  • Provide support during student crises, working with Pedagogical Administrator, counselors or behavioral specialists as needed. 
  • Implement de-escalation techniques and ensure students’ emotional well-being. 
  1. Program Evaluation: 
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of support programs and interventions. 
  • Collect feedback from students, parents, and staff to continuously improve educational support services. 
  1. Behavior Incidents:
  • Develop and implement support for behavior incidents
  • Support class teachers and assistants in in classroom behavior management
  1. Other School Duties 
  • Attend faculty meetings 
  • Participate in Educational Support Committee meetings. 
  • Attend Admissions meetings as required. 

Experience: 

Experience in coordinating IEPs, 504 Plans, or similar individualized support plans. 

Skills: 

  • Strong understanding of learning disabilities, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and other learning challenges. 
  • Organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and outside professionals. 
  • Knowledge of educational laws and compliance requirements related to student support. 

Technical Skills: 

  • Proficiency in using educational software, assessment tools, and assistive technologies. 
  • Strong record-keeping and data management skills. 

Personal Attributes: 

  • Empathy, patience, and a passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs. 
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. 

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). 
  • Waldorf Teacher Training desired
  • Relevant certifications in special education, educational psychology, or learning support are a plus. 

Employment Details

Benefits and Compensation:

Waldorf School of the Peninsula provides medical, dental, and vision coverage for the employee and their dependents. A generous tuition remission benefit is available for children of the employee. Depending on experience, certification and education, the yearly salary range is $70,000 – $80,000.
