Rudolf Steiner School seeks an Education Support Teacher for the Lower School. This position specializes in Grades 1-6 and supports the transition from kindergarten to 1st grade and 6th grade to the Upper School.

Essential Job Duties

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include:

  • Work closely with the Lower School Chair, College of Teachers, Learning Support Coordinator and other faculty to provide support and recommendations for teachers, students, and families
  • Participate in school committees and faculty meetings
  • Occasional evening and weekend events such as parent evenings, open houses, and festival

Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience working with neurodivergent students, including ADHD and dyslexia
  • Knowledge of behavioral techniques for managing the physical and emotional behaviors of neurodivergent students
  • Knowledge of classroom strategies for teaching neurodivergent students to establish a supportive, structured classroom that will encourage learning, and help students be more successful
  • Knowledge and training in diverse learning strategies to support reading, writing, mathematics, and executive function skills
  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred
  • Interest in and appreciation for Waldorf Education
  • Commitment to professional growth including further education in Waldorf teaching
  • Versatility, enthusiasm, punctuality, creativity
  • At least four years of teaching experience
