River Valley Waldorf School is seeking an Early Childhood Support Teacher to join our mixed-age early childhood program starting in the 2025-2026 school year. This role calls for authentic warmth, good humor, joy, and enthusiasm for nurturing young children. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as an interest in Waldorf early childhood education and its best practices. This position requires the ability to engage in a physically active day, caring for children both in the classroom and in the surrounding forested areas in all seasons and weather conditions.

About River Valley Waldorf School:
Situated on seven forested acres overlooking the Delaware River on unceded Lenni-Lenape land, River Valley Waldorf School serves children from early childhood through grade eight. Essential Job Duties
General Description
The Early Childhood Support Teacher will cultivate a nurturing and inclusive classroom community fostering care for the classroom, nature, and their fellow classmates. They will collaborate with colleagues to create a safe and supportive environment aligned with Waldorf pedagogy, while maintaining open communication with the class teachers and support teachers. This role supports the day to day organization of the classroom’s physical space and supports the smooth rhythm of the school day following the lead teacher

The ideal candidate holds a minimum of an associate’s degree with demonstrated teaching experience and a strong commitment to Waldorf education and its principles. They should bring flexibility and enthusiasm for working in both indoor and outdoor environments, along with a growth mindset, openness to feedback, and a collaborative spirit.
Employment Details
Hours & Compensation:
This is an hourly position Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, less school scheduled and weather related breaks. This role is compensated at $20/hour.
This position is eligible for partial student tuition remission, professional development opportunities, and a supportive work environment that values work-life balance and holistic education.
The following Training may be completed during employment:
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Mandated Reporter Training
- Stewards of Children – Darkness to Light
- Anti-bias Training
Start Date & Timeline:
- Start Date: July 1, 2025
- In-service Training: Begins two weeks before the school year
- School Year: September 2, 2025 – June 11, 2026
