Early Childhood Lead Teacher
Opening Statement
Our Early Childhood program is based outdoors on 30 beautiful acres with a large, sturdy tent in place to shelter. The grounds include a large field for play, with woods and trails to explore. We seek a Lead Teacher who has Waldorf Early Childhood teacher training to join our exceptional team of dedicated Waldorf teachers. Our program is young, now in our fifth year. This is an opportunity to help further the development of the program and expand Waldorf education in the capital city of North Carolina.
About
Raleigh Day School (formerly The Unity School) was founded in 2020. We became an associate member of WECAN in 2022 and are a Registered Initiative in AWSNA. We are committed to the principles of Waldorf education and to continue to grow as a community inspired by Anthroposophy and Rudolf Steiner’s vision of child development. we currently serve children ages 3-6 years in the Early Childhood program and students in grades 1-5, adding a grade each year through grade 8.
Essential Job Duties
Arrive at school by 7:45 to prepare for the day.
Attend morning verse with faculty colleagues.
Receive the children between 8:15-8:30
Dismiss children at 12:30.
The teacher will develop a program that is consistent with the pedagogical principles of Waldorf Early Childhood education; will be committed to a primarily outdoor classroom environment; will work collaboratively with the teacher assistant and faculty of the elementary/middle school in a loving, supportive environment; will attend faculty meetings and meet with mentors; will be dedicated to the continued study of Waldorf Early Childhood pedagogy as envisioned by Rudolf Steiner and to the study of anthroposophy; will foster positive reltionships with families of Early Childhood students, providing educational opportunities in class meeting forums to help deepen their understanding of the principles that guide our work toward the healthy development of the child.
Qualifications
Waldorf teacher certification or willingness to pursue training from a WECAN/AWSNA recognized program
Desire to work in a collaborative, supportive, and caring environment with colleagues and administration
Commitment to continuing professional development, mentorship, and to creating and maintaining a positive experience for children in the Early Childhood program.
Employment Details
Salary range $35,000-$38,000
