Opening Statement
Davis Waldorf School, located in the Central Valley of Northern California, is seeking an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic class teacher to carry the class of 2029 into 5th grade and beyond! Our ideal candidate is trained in Waldorf education and has experience teaching. They should be committed to collegial work, diversity and inclusion, self-development, and excellence in teaching.
The class of 2029 is a solid class of 19 students that has been lovingly held by a strong teacher who had completed the 1-4th cycle multiple times.

The Davis Waldorf School is a school of 215 children, pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. We are in our 38th year and have been experiencing healthy enrollment, ongoing growth, and strong support from our community. We have a strong, trained and experienced faculty and a supportive parent body and administrative team. We have a robust specialty program that includes Spanish, Handwork, Games, Strings, Music, Gardening and Woodworking. Our staff is full of creativity, experience and commitment. Our teachers and staff are actively engaged in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work and we strive to further develop the traditional Waldorf curriculum to bring about a sense of belonging and understanding for all. Essential Job Duties
The position requires a deep understanding and grounding in the foundations of Waldorf education, as well as the ability to:
- Plan the daily, weekly and block rhythms of the year. These plans are developed in accordance with the principles of Waldorf pedagogy and in light of the needs of the class.
- Deepen their understanding of Anthroposophy and child development, and seek out new materials for their teaching.
- Commit to faculty responsibilities including weekly meetings in our grades section group, weekly faculty meetings and committee service.
- Build a healthy class community
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- 1 – 2 years of previous relevant classroom experience
- Relevant experience in a Waldorf inspired program or some demonstrable training in Waldorf pedagogy
Preferred Qualifications:
- Have completed, or are currently enrolled in a Waldorf Teacher Training Program
- Teaching experience in a Waldorf school
