Business Manager
Opening Statement
The Business Manager supports the administrative department of Live Oak Waldorf School by overseeing and directing the school’s financial and business operations and is responsible for the management of specific personnel functions.
About
Our school is nestled in the Sierra Foothills of Northern Californiaand serves children from birth through 8th grade with a parent child program on campus. Our 40-acre campus features an early childhood “village” of classrooms and ample outdoor play spaces, gardens, natural amphitheater, a woodshop, handwork room, plus an abundance of outdoor playgrounds, and hiking trails through the woods on the property.
Live Oak has been a fully accredited member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) since 1989 and was just reaccredited in the 2023/24 school year. Live Oak is also a continued member of Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN).
Essential Job Duties
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES (including but not limited to):
- Provides support to the Administrator on budget tracking and development, long-term financial planning, management of school expenditures and cash flow.
- Assumes responsibility for all school bank accounts.
- Oversees bookkeeping and accounting functions.
- Generates financial reports and provides them to the appropriate school bodies.
- Serves as a member of the Finance Committee.
- Attends Board of Trustee and Leadership Council meetings on an as needed basis, to advise on financial and personnel decisions.
- Manages and updates school’s insurance plans and policies.
- Manages specific personnel functions such as timecards, new employee paperwork and orientation, unemployment paperwork and employee handbook.
- Ensures employee certifications and licensing are up to date.
- Assists the Administrator with managing and updating personnel files and employee contracts.
- Attends annual law updates on payroll, benefits and Human Resource functions.
Qualifications
- Experience in at least one or more of the following fields; Accounting, Finance, Business Administration and/or Budget Management.
- Direct or desired experience in Human Resource Management functions.
- The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- A high degree of self-motivation with the ability to work independently, while working effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Deep knowledge and comfort with Google Workspace, Microsoft applications.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Employment Details
Hours of employment shall be part-time with an average of 30 hours per week for 50 weeks. The days of work are to be completed on site and primarily Monday through Friday from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, with occasional weekend duties and emergency situation.
The compensation for this position shall be an hourly rate of $24 -$25/hr. We offer Tuition Remission (one full remission), Paid Time Off, Sick Leave, Bereavement Leave and ongoing professional development.
