Sacramento Waldorf School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Waldorf-trained Class Teacher to join our vibrant and collaborative faculty in August 2025. Founded in 1959, Sacramento Waldorf School is a thriving Early Childhood through Twelfth Grade independent school located in Fair Oaks, California. Nestled on a scenic 22-acre campus overlooking the American River, our school provides a dynamic and experiential education rooted in the principles of Waldorf pedagogy. Essential Job Duties

  • Classroom Leadership & Instruction:

    • Provide a developmentally appropriate, engaging, and creative Waldorf curriculum that supports the intellectual, social, and emotional growth of students.
    • Foster a nurturing and structured learning environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of learning.
    • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and styles within the classroom.
  • Student Development & Support:

    • Guide students through a comprehensive multi-year curriculum that fosters continuity and deep relationships.
    • Assess student progress through observation, documentation, and formal evaluations, providing thoughtful feedback to students and families.
    • Support students’ social-emotional development through positive discipline, conflict resolution, and an understanding of child development.
  • Collaboration & Professional Development:

    • Work collaboratively with colleagues, specialty teachers, and school leadership to support student learning and school initiatives.
    • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, mentoring, and ongoing Waldorf training.
    • Engage in reflective practice and seek opportunities for continued growth as an educator.
  • Community & Parent Engagement:

    • Maintain open and responsive communication with parents, including regular class updates, parent meetings, and conferences.
    • Partner with families to support students’ holistic development and cultivate a strong sense of community.
    • Participate in school events, festivals, and traditions that enrich the student and community experience.
  • Administrative & School Responsibilities:

    • Maintain accurate attendance records, progress reports, and student documentation.
    • Adhere to school policies, procedures, and professional expectations.
    • Contribute to the life and governance of the school through committee work, event planning, and collaborative decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Education & Training:

    • Certificate of Completion in Waldorf Teaching (required)
    • Bachelor’s Degree (required)
  • Experience & Skills:

    • Previous Waldorf class teaching experience (preferred)
    • Strong understanding of child development and Waldorf pedagogy
    • Ability to create a structured yet flexible learning environment that supports student growth
    • Effective classroom management skills grounded in positive discipline and social-emotional learning
  • Professional & Personal Attributes:

    • Commitment to innovative and evolving Waldorf education practices
    • Growth mindset and willingness to engage in ongoing professional development
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and colleagues

Employment Details

Full-Time Position

  • Pay Range: $48,969 – $65,000 (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
  • Monday – Friday, some nights and weekends
  • Hours per Week: 40+
  • Start Date: August 1, 2025
