Aurora Waldorf School is in the news for the outdoor education they offer on their 31-acre campus in Western New York. Spectrum Local News reports that students of all ages are outside most of the day, rain or shine.
Kathryn Lalley, the school’s Marketing and Communications Director says this type of education is more important than ever post pandemic. “[The pandemic] really gave families an opportunity to pause, really think about their values, and think about what their goals were for the future.”
Lalley’s own son, Nico, also attends the school and she says she wants her children to lean problem solving in a natural environment that doesn’t put too much test pressure on students. She says, “We felt within our family, and I would say that a number of our families echo this feeling, that modern education is moving too fast,” she explained.
