Waldorf School of Orange County is seeking a compassionate and skilled Middle School Resource Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs, helping them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The Resource Teacher will collaborate with faculty, parents, and specialists to develop and implement individualized strategies that align with Waldorf educational principles.

Essential Job Duties

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students needing additional academic or developmental support.
  • Assess student needs and create tailored intervention plans, incorporating Waldorf methodologies and evidence-based strategies.
  • Implement and monitor reading intervention programs such as Orton-Gillingham, Barton Method, or similar approaches.
  • Collaborate with class teachers to modify curriculum and provide differentiated instruction in core subjects.
  • Offer emotional and social guidance, helping students navigate challenges in line with Waldorf principles.
  • Review learning assessments and outside IEPs to develop Individualized Service Plans (ISPs), 504 Plans and collaborate with teams to support students with special needs.
  • Facilitate communication between teachers, parents, and external specialists to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Stay informed on best practices in special education and integrate them within the Waldorf framework.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events to contribute to the community.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Reading Specialist Certification and Waldorf Teaching Certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn multi-tiered intervention systems (MTSS).
  • Proficiency in creating and implementing Individualized Service Plans  (ISPs), 504 Plans  and reading intervention programs such as Orton-Gillingham, Barton Method, or equivalent.
  • Experience working with middle school students, particularly in a Waldorf or holistic educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of Waldorf education principles and a commitment to its philosophy.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
