Opening Statement

The Waldorf School of Atlanta is looking to hire a Class Teacher for the 25-26 school year. This teacher will most likely start in the lower grades and move through the subsequent grades as possible with the class. Main Lesson will be one of the responsibilities of the Class Teacher along with managing the class through all aspects of the rest of the day such as transitioning for Specialty Classes, guiding the children in social growth and helping the class to form a community of learning within The Waldorf School of Atlanta.

Our School and Community:

Founded in 1986 as a preschool/kindergarten program, The Waldorf School of Atlanta graduated its first eighth-grade class in 2000. We currently offer preschool to grade eight education for approximately 215 students, including Spanish, Eurythmy, Movement Education, Music (Vocal and Instrumental), Handwork, Woodwork, SEL, Gardening, and after-school Athletic Programs. Our parent/infant-toddler program warmly introduces young families to Waldorf education. WSA is fully accredited by four local and national accrediting bodies and is a full member of AWSNA. Academe of the Oaks Waldorf High School opened in the fall of 2003 and is just five minutes from our campus. 

Our experienced and creative faculty works closely with an active and dedicated Board of Trustees and a committed and talented parent community. An established Core Faculty with many years of Waldorf experience share a strong commitment to studying and working with anthroposophy. Our community will be welcoming a resident Christian Community priest by the fall of 2025 and also helps to support a branch of the Anthroposophical Society.

Essential Job Duties

  • Teach main lesson daily and scheduled extra main lesson periods throughout the week
  • Supervise student arrival, dismissal, snack, lunch, and scheduled recess duties
  • Offer three parent evenings/gatherings
  • Hold two parent conferences with each family
  • Hold home visits for new students (lower grades only)
  • Write mid-year and end-of-year reports for each student by stated deadlines
  • Weekly departmental and faculty meetings
  • Attend pre and post planning meetings and professional development days
  • Participate in departmental activities and festivals
  • Participate in major all-school activities, such as All-School Workday, New Paren Orientation, Holiday Fair, All-School Meeting, and Auction
  • Serve on two Faculty and/or Board committees

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree is required. Additionally, Waldorf teacher training and classroom experience are preferred. We are seeking individuals who are committed to excellence in teaching, healthy parent/teacher relationships, self development, and collegial collaboration.
