Waldorf educator Janene Ping and her work with plant-dye silk tapestries has inspired two wallpaper collections — Alchemy and Enchantment — created by Calico wallpaper.
Janene uses her long-established practice of plant-dye exploration to create silk tapestries for her productions at The Magical Puppet Tree Theater and in her early childhood classroom at the Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School.
Calico founders Nick and Rachel Cope became inspired by Janene’s work while she was teaching their young children at Hawthorne Valley where she has taught for over 30 years.
Janene founded the Magical Puppet Tree Theater in 1992 and is the Artistic Director. She is also President of the Board of Directors at The World Association of Puppetry and Storytelling Arts and has taught Puppetry Arts at Antioch Center for Anthroposophy & Early Childhood and Puppetry Arts at Rudolf Steiner Institute.
