About:

Da Vinci Waldorf School is an independent, private school established in 1998 serving over 100 students and their community.  We offer a complete curriculum from Pre-K to Grade Eight. We are an associate member of AWSNA (Association of Waldorf Schools of North America). Our educational experience includes foreign language, farming/ gardening, handwork, practical arts, instrumental and choral music, movement and student support programs.

Essential Job Duties

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensuring student safety
  • Address behavioral issues with compassionate redirection and work with the lead teacher to support appropriate student behavior
  • Support the lead teacher in upholding the daily rhythm and and carrying out a developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with Waldorf principles
  • Engage in daily activities such as food preparation, cleaning and maintaining the classroom’s aesthetics
  • Substitute for the lead teacher when required, with support from a substitute assistant
  • Participate in two to three annual enrollment and outreach gatherings
  • Cultivate a healthy and supportive social dynamic among students
  • Participating in regular mentoring from qualified faculty (if requested)
  • Participating in scheduled in-service training that may be scheduled outside of the school hours
  • Participating in regular recess/rest/ lunch/break supervision duties
  • Attending festivals and major school events during the academic year
  • Actively participating in committees or task groups as-needed (after the first year of employment)

    Other Responsibilities

    • Supporting a healthy school culture by working collaboratively, addressing concerns openly, and directing issues to the appropriate person(s) or group(s)
    • Respond to communications in all forms in a professional, timely, and courteous manner
    • Read and acknowledge the Employee Guidebook and become familiar with the policies in the Family Guidebook
    • Keep up-to-date with school announcements, community-building activities and timely submission of any required paperwork or receipts


    Physical Requirements:

    • Stand, walk, and hike for extended periods and significant lengths (up to a mile long)
    • Sit for extended periods, both in chairs and on the floor
    • Safely lift objects and young children up to 50 lbs
    • Squat, stoop, and bend over

  • Demonstrated ability to teach to a variety of ages and skill levels, including multi-age groups
  • Ability to work with each child as a unique individual
  • Collaboration skills; ability to work well with colleagues and respect coworkers
  • Professional demeanor, punctuality and the ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
  • Capacity for self-development and professional growth
  • A commitment to being a worthy role model and adult that children can emulate

Desired Qualifications

  • Degree from an accredited college, university or technical school
  • Experience as a teacher, preferably in a Waldorf school
  • Early Childhood Waldorf teaching certification
  • Master’s Degree in subject area or equivalent professional experience
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Participate in two to three annual enrollment and outreach gatherings
  • Cultivate a healthy and supportive social dynamic among students
  • Participating in regular mentoring from qualified faculty (if requested)
  • Participating in scheduled in-service training that may be scheduled outside of the school hours

Employment Details

Hours:  Variable, generally on-site from 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM on school days

Days:  M-F for 5-day classes, TBD for 3-day classes

Classification:  Full or Part Time Exempt

*This is a Part-Time position with the potential for reaching full-status in the future

Reports to: Faculty Chair, Administrator

 

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary ranges 15-25k annually based on experience and weekly work schedule
  • Tuition remission based on current employment policy
  • Approximately 35 weeks with additional hours for in-service days or training prior to and after the school year and per employment agreement
  • Annual training benefits
