About

Wildcat Canyon Community School is a Waldorf-inspired AWSNA-registered initiative. An independent, coed school, WCCS serves more than 190 students from preschool through middle school on a remarkable 11-acre hillside campus with an additional 80 acres, which provides endless opportunities for outdoor classroom experiences. We are currently thriving in our third year as a parent/teacher cooperative that blossomed from the East Bay Waldorf School. We are a collective of teachers and faculty reimagining Waldorf curriculum in an effort to bring it to current times to meet the children of today.

We are looking for educators who will join us in cultivating a school resonant with the impulses of
Waldorf education: a development of the “head, heart, and hands” in children, which offers them a
holistic education in service of supporting the development of free-thinking human beings who can make
their unique contributions to the future – while simultaneously, centering diversity, equity, and inclusion
through curriculum, stories, and festivals.

Qualifications

The Type of Teacher We are Looking For:
● Demonstrated teaching experience in the grades/elementary (lead or long-time assistant).
● Experience, knowledge, or genuine interest in Waldorf education.
● Committed to striving towards teaching a Waldorf Pedagogy that decenters European
perspectives and uplifts marginalized voices and stories that have been silenced/forgotten.
● Open to exploring both Waldorf pedagogy and social justice.
● Committed to continuing on the path of self-development, willing to adapt teaching methods to
meet the needs of the students, enthusiastic about learning, and committed to continuing
professional development.
● Ability to work collaboratively with other faculty, school administrators, and guardians in our
non-hierarchical Sociocratic governance structure.
● Desire to plant roots and grow with us.
● A strong applicant will have a Bachelor’s degree, Waldorf teacher training certificate, and prior
teaching experience.
Anyone interested in our school should apply.
